Glaucoma Herbal Remedies

Glaucoma is an eye disease, the danger of which is that it can cause permanent blindness. It proceeds gradually with no noticeable symptoms and in many cases patients visit the doctor only at a late stage of illness.

The disease is caused by gradual increase of pressure within the eyeball, because fluids are unable to drain normally. The glaucoma can arise independently or as result of some other eye disease.

Among the factors, contributing to the development of this very serious health problem can be: an aging process, an adverse heredity, diabetes, vascular diseases, cataract, smoking and use of alcohol.

Successful treatment of the disease is possible only if it started at its early stage. Seek immediate medical help if such symptoms as headache, severe eye pain and feeling of pressure in an eye, and abrupt vision blurring occur. Those are the symptoms of an acute glaucoma.

The most distinctive symptom of the chronic disease is the occurrence of iridescent circles around the source of light.

The best way to prevent serious complications of glaucoma is to undergo periodic screening for early diagnosis.
